A Master Mariner with 25 years seafaring experience including service on tankers to 300,000Dwt, LPG and bulk carriers, and AHTS vessels in all ranks up to and including 18 years as Master.
He was General Manager of LOC Middle East until April 2002 and transferred to London as MD in June 2002.
He specialises in major oil pollution investigations and has acted directly on behalf of the IOPC Funds and P&I Clubs on a number of significant oil spill events in the Middle East. He has been involved in every aspect of the spill from salvage, shoreline clean up, Claims Handling and Review. He has worked closely with Government agencies and ITOPF throughout these events.
He was appointed by the IMO to act on their behalf advising the Yemeni Government on pollution damage assessment and Claims Preparation for the "LIMBURG" incident.
He has acted on behalf of owners and their insurers in a number of deep water oil recovery operations and has presented articles on this topic.
He has attended on behalf of P&I clubs, lawyers and owners at a number of shipping casualties including salvage, collision, personal injury and strandings.
In addition he has considerable experience in tanker related surveys and investigations that include explosions, fires, groundings, pollution and cargo claims.
He has extensive experience of towage and heavy lift units and has been Project Manager for Marine Warranty issues on a large number of offshore field developments.
