Nick Haslam is an Director of LOC providing marine and casualty consultancy services to Owners, P&I Clubs, insurance companies, lawyers and other members of the maritime community. An experienced Master Mariner with a seafaring career spanning 20 years including service in general cargo vessels, bulk carriers, container vessels, reefers, salvage tugs and anchor handling tugs in all ranks up to and including Master. His shore management experience includes Safety Superintending involving auditing and training of vessels’ crews from tugs, anchor handling vessels and supply vessels. He has been involved in accident investigations of a varied nature.
In LOC he has attended a large number of salvage and wreck removal operations of a complex nature on a world-wide basis on behalf of shipowners and P&I Clubs. He is on the list of approved Shipowners Casualty representatives (SCR) and has a broad experience of LOF/SCOPIC salvage. He has carried out a variety of cargo damage surveys and been involved in personal injury cases in an expert capacity.
He specialises in towage and has acted as marine insurance warranty surveyor and/or consultant on large offshore structures and their associated components of high value.
He has carried out numerous safety audits and condition surveys of various vessel types on behalf of insurance interests, shipowners, offshore contractors and oil companies. He has also performed collision risk analysis.
He has managed project transportation of refineries and their component parts and has been involved with FPSO installation in the North Sea.
