Ewen’s marine experience includes 14 years sailing on general cargo, heavy lift, reefer and passenger vessels in all ranks up to Master and he also brings to bear concentrated cargo experience as a Super Cargo.

His shore management experience includes service as a stowage co-ordinator for large container ships, vessel scheduling and all aspects of container management. He has written a comprehensive company guide on best practice for stowage in containers.

Prior to joining LOC he managed an “off-dock” container depot in the Middle East which offered a full suite of logistics services including warehousing, distribution and project cargo consultancy. Managing the carriage of project cargoes is his forte and he has utilized these skills for LOC in attending various heavy lift operations for Marine Warranty Surveys.

He has attended for towage approvals, single voyage approvals, vessel suitability and offshore wind-farm installations.

Investigations into collisions, fires, cargo shifting, charter party disputes, unsafe port deliberations, stowage of steel cargoes, reefer cargoes, and the safe carriage of luxury yachts are other areas of experience where he has liaised with lawyers, ship owners and P&I Clubs.

Using his extensive experience in the container industry, he has provided opinions on various aspects of the containership planning process and has attended arbitration hearings in respect of containership operations and the stowage of steel cargoes.
