A co-founder of London Offshore Consultants, David has provided marine specialist services to shipping interests including P&I Clubs, Admiralty Lawyers, Owners, Charterers and cargo interests for over 20 years. His seafaring career involved service in general cargo vessels and oil and chemical tankers in all ranks up to and including Master.
He specialises in marine casualty investigations and co-ordination as well as a wide range of charter party disputes including seaworthiness issues, unsafe berths and ports, the carriage of cargoes and navigation. He has carried out management and safety audits on behalf of various shipping interests including iron ore exporters, P&I Clubs and shipowners. He also has considerable experience in towage and has acted as marine insurance warranty surveyor on major offshore projects and towmaster on mobile offshore drilling units.
He has attended on behalf of P&I Clubs on numerous cargo investigations involving tankers, bulk carriers, container and general cargo vessels. He has also carried out many investigations into ship collisions.
He has given expert evidence in the Royal High Court in England, also Federal Court in USA and High Courts in other jurisdictions world-wide. He has also given expert evidence in arbitration hearings in London and New York. Evidence has concerned unsafe berths and ports, seaworthiness, salvage, towage, navigation, tanker disputes and general cargo operations.
