
Andrew Squire

Andrew Squire is the LOC Group Chief Executive. He has been a member of the LOC team since 1982, during which time he has applied his expertise as a Naval Architect to the broad range of services provided by the Consultancy.
He has considerable experience as a marine insurance surveyor and the approval of the towage, transportation and installation of large and high value cargo, mainly for the offshore oil and gas industry. An example is the approval of the towage of the Brent Spar from the North Sea for disposal.
His principal area of work is in the provision of consultancy services to shipowners, their insurers and legal representatives as well as cargo interest and other maritime organisations. He has attended numerous casualties around the world to investigate the cause of failures and losses to a wide range of vessel types and sizes from pleasure craft to container ships and large bulk carriers. He has particular experience in preparing reports for salvage arbitrations on the dangers to which a casualty is exposed.
He has given expert evidence on a number of occasions in court and arbitration in the UK and overseas concerning ship strength, stability, mooring failures, new building problems, ship manoeuvring and other matters. He acted on behalf of the Derbyshire Family Association as their lead expert at the re-opened formal inquiry into the loss of the bulk carrier "DERBYSHIRE".
