Brian Hiney
First Class Engineer (Motor), IEng, AMIMarE

Brian is a Marine Engineer with LOC since 1992 and a Director in Singapore since 1998. He has particular experience as a Technical Superintendent and Chief Engineer, having sailed on general cargo vessels, bulk carriers, tankers and reefer vessels. Has substantial experience of the carriage of reefer cargoes.

Has acted on behalf of P&I Clubs, Admiralty Lawyers, Ship Owners, Charterers and Cargo Interests in matters concerning shipping and offshore activities, including damage surveys, fixed object damage, cargo problems, condition surveys, fire damage, main engine and steering gear failure, tonnage measurement, speed / angle of blow calculations, groundings, salvage and wreck removal, reefer plant inspection, repair specifications and costings, fuel and consumption investigation. Has investigated and reported on a number of notable marine casualties.

Has prepared reports for Arbitration and High Court hearings and acted as an Expert Witness in the United Kingdom.
